®
The VESALA YT-B splitter is designed to
separate ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber
Line) from POTS (telephone) when they are
transmitted on a same wire pair and

terminated by means of Tyco QDF-E
(Mondragon) MDF technology. The splitter
protects POTS from interference caused by
ADSL signals and equally protects ADSL from
transients generated by, for example, POTS
dialling and ringing, and from impedance
fluctuations like off-hook / on-hook transitions.

requires a space of two pairs from a 10-pair
terminal block. YT-B has symmetric mechanical
shape, which allows best access to neighbouring
terminals and their wire pairs. YT-B sticks out
less than 40mm from the terminal block, which
is an asset compared to bulky competitors.
Filter operation
YT-B splitter contains 4th order passive low-pass
filter and 1st order high-pass filter. Attached
diagram shows a typical ADSL band insertion
loss curve. Impeccable return loss properties
prevent unwanted POTS echoing.
Saving costs with YT-B
The ingenuity of the design of YT-B splitters is

it they can be plugged into QDF-E terminal
blocks in a local exchange, one by one, as
needed. Ordinary splitters require an operator
to install large splitter racks and equipment
awaiting possible future use. With YT-B only
one terminal block is usually needed for five
subscribers. All this results in considerable
cost savings and allows unparalleled flexibility
when ADSL/POTS usage ratio changes over
time.

YT-B is easy to install to QDF-E test and
measurement slots - no tools are needed.
